Birthday Eve
July is coming to an end, and I decided to give some thought to the month I was born, reflecting on a life lived and still in progress.
I don’t need to write much because a picture is worth a thousand words. My photos tell the real story, picking up where my written communication leaves off. They speak of not sitting on the sidelines, but embracing life – rejoicing in that which must never be taken for granted.
Life happens all around us. Like the next person, I have my days when I am plagued by doubts, excuses, challenges, etc., and with all the energy I can muster I somehow make it work, because in the end, do I really have a choice?
For me it has never been about success or popularity, but about living through trial and error, loving unconditionally and learning – growing my mind to thrive in a world that is less than kind, and at the same time remarkably beautiful.
My words of advice to you – meditate and focus, because this will keep you hungry for life. You are no good to others and won’t be able to help motivate those you love most if you are not keeping yourself physically and mentally fit.
And for those who are looking to play the martyr role (being a people pleaser or to acquire sympathy), know that this will get you nowhere, breaking your spirit at every turn. This behavior often speaks of manipulation and selfishness. Don’t allow yourself to be a victim for too long. Success is gained through balance and with a commitment to moderation; anything else is living in the extremes, which will never add up to your dreams and desires.
Let’s not be careless with our lives for too long, but steadfast, strong and true. Immaturity must become a thing of the past. As you gain age so must you embrace wisdom because only then can you live the best life possible, and we all deserve that much. Yes?!
It’s important for each of us to stop and smell the flowers, to perform good deeds for humanity as often as possible and to live by example.
I’ll officially be another year older soon, and I hope wiser. It’s meaningful when friends compliment me on the latter, but even more so when I can see it for myself when I look in the mirror, and I do. It’s taken me a long time to get here, and the journey thus far has been bittersweet, but I am a better man for going the distance, appreciating my life so much more than you or I could ever imagine.
Like you, I remain a work in progress. Cheers! – paerki
