Tough Love For Slackers
The days of being slothful, idle, immobile, inactive, indolent, lackadaisical, lifeless, procrastinating, slow, sluggish, unenergetic, dallying is over! Your disorganization will not be tolerated anymore.
Seriously, when did we become so lazy? I see more and more people drifting towards Slackerville. Sadly, many just don’t care. Step up to the plate and deliver, or resign and let someone else have your job. Employers, it’s time to show tough love even in the midst of a troubled economy.
We need to stop taking jobs, coworkers, employers and most of all money for granted. It’s time to stand-up and be accountable for our actions, with a willingness to live a better and more productive life, and it begins with choosing quality over quantity.
Feel good commentary and psycho-babble are fine, but we need to come to the understanding that many people lack social graces, communication skills, ethics, moral conduct and knowledge, which impedes their ability to compete, creating a bitter divide between the masses.
My intentions are not to point fingers… and I could, but I digress. We need to take it upon ourselves to look in the mirror to see what is going on. If you are blaming your laziness on sadness and depression (highly possible, but still not an excuse), go to a therapist or counselor (and not your spiritual adviser). Go sooner than later, because the longer you wait the sadder you’ll become. America can’t wait all day for you to decide.
For most people I do believe it’s about being inept. There are others who are so quick to want to rise to the top without doing the necessary work to be productive in the job for which they are applying. People who take other avenues to get to the top will be caught. Your laziness will be revealed at some point in your career, and you will pay the price. Lazy people, like liars and cheaters, have never prospered in the long run and they never will.
The Slackers’ key to getting out of Slackerville is motivation and determination. The trip will be even shorter if you have commonsense and logic on your side. You either have it or you don’t. Don’t spend too much time looking for what you don’t have. Learn to manage your time, which must include organization and prioritizing. Don’t wait for others to teach you, teach yourself. Don’t have an education? Can’t afford an education? Go to the library and READ! READ! READ! Stick to a schedule. Some people need little sleep to be productive. The slacker doesn’t have that luxury. Quality sleep is essential for you.
In addition to exercising your mind, you need to exercise your body. Hanging out at bars and playing video games are not going to help you. Making babies is not going to help you. Overeating is not going to help you. More so than anything, set smart, obtainable goals without deviation. Don’t look to be rewarded after each goal because that is not living in the real world. Keep it real and think about what’s really important… your survival in a competitive and unforgiving global economy. It’s a dog-eat-dog world. You can and will survive, but not as a slacker.
Stop sucking the life out of people who are trying to grow the world. Humanity needs everyone, but all of us must be willing to do our share and pull our own weight. Good intentions alone never helped anyone succeed. – paerki
