Caught In The Act
On Saturday, I was hiking through the city and discovered a new mural in Charles Village. It wasn’t completed, and I was hopeful I could catch the artist in action. On Monday, I was running errands, turning part of my afternoon into an art-walk.
My first stop was to see the mural. Lucky me, the artist was at work. I was surprised to learn it was Michael Owen. For those who don’t know, Michael is the creator and lead artist of the Baltimore Love Project, a self-initiated project of 20 love-themed murals spread evenly throughout the city. You can’t miss the love. It’s everywhere!
Michael’s vision and these murals have truly helped transform several communities. They’re inspirational, providing hope for those who need to believe – now more than ever, that everything is going to be all right.
Michael’s new work is simple, with clean lines. I like the minimalist approach to this particular piece. It really caught my eye, and it might just be my favorite.
Thank you, Michael for moving Baltimore forward. Our city can use all the love it can get, and I look forward to seeing more of your work. Cheers! – paerki
