Boundaries
"A boundary is not that at which something stops, but that from which something begins." – Martin Heidegger
Late to bed, early to rise doesn't make for a happy run. What a challenge it was this morning. With each mile it got worse, and I gave up after four. There are times when you have to know when to throw in the towel, and when to fold it into a little pillow and place it under your head, falling to sleep wherever you are at that moment. (The trail grass was soggy.)
I have no regrets. My late night conversation was nourishment for my soul and senses, and I prefer that to running any day. So thank you, my friend for a most interesting night of carefully constructed words, most notably those that attempted to penetrate the inner sanctum of each.
On a more personal note: All of us have at some time and to some degree experienced having the walls to our world torn down. The soul is like a city, which we are to protect. It is made up of the mind, will and emotions. When the walls are torn down there is free access to our entire universe, and that can be scary. There is a chance of being deceived and/or manipulated, but there is also that chance of finding real beauty in a true friend.
People build walls for many reasons, typically not to keep others out, but to see who cares enough to break them down. I care enough. – paerki
