A Tallahassee, Florida principal resigns after parents complain about Michelangelo’s "David" statue, calling it pornographic material. It’s not porn, it’s art! Get you minds out of the gutter!
Children hear/see worse stuff on television, the internet, playing video games, etc. Parents must stop drawing attention to objects children don’t necessarily have a curiosity about because when you draw attention to things like Michelangelo’s David, calling it porn – it sends the wrong message to children, which piques their curiosity. It’s that type of behavior that prematurely pries open a young mind way before it understands, and then you wonder why your child is acting out. At this point, you have no one to blame but yourself.
The human body is beautiful, not taboo. If you can’t see a naked body without having perverse thoughts, you are part of the problem.
I recently visited the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I don’t encourage people from Tallahassee to visit because it might offend you. (I am kidding. Although it might upset some, the Tallahassee friends I know are not that narrowminded.)
I encourage everyone to visit the Rodin in Philly. Everything about it is fabulous. The building, grounds, beautiful indoor moldings, floors and the art – The Art! All of it is splendid, including those naked statues and those naughty poses. – paerki
