Dear Charles
Unseasoned waiters are the worst, and there were a few there this particular night. Some were clumsy, others oblivious. Ours was inattentive and awkward, and we weren’t asking for much.
Dressed refined, the manager was bussing tables like a madman when he should have spent some of that time visiting tables to ask patrons how their evening was going. I doubt the responses would have been kind.
The food should not have arrived all at one time but served in courses. The hard water was a deal breaker. I have no problem with tap water, but it must be filtered. That might explain some of the food tastes and quality.
If you find yourself dining at Dear Charles… I recommend the Crispy Brussels Sprouts and a glass of wine (it might ease your pain if you dare to order anything else).
As for the hotel (The Study at Johns Hopkins), I like the look. – paerki
The following is worth reading as it is a reply to my comments, which I sent to the hotel/restaurant. I am pleasantly surprised by the tone but more so by the quick reply. I believe this response to be heartfelt. Why think otherwise? I appreciate good intentions.
A gift certificate for another dining experience is unnecessary but appreciated. A glass of wine while enjoying the crispy brussels spouts will help heal all wounds.
I will also wait a few months, revisiting the restaurant for a second meal, on my dime. My fingers are crossed for a better experience. – paerki
