There’s An Artist In All Of Us
My recent trips to the Baltimore Museum of Art this past month for the Cezanne exhibit inspired me to pull out and reconnect with a collection of black ink drawings (numbering over thousand) that I acquired from an estate clean-out a few years ago. The deceased artist was a thinker, writer, collector and creator. His true claim to fame was that he was a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, I believe he was a troubled man with skeletons in his closet. There was a great deal of sadness in his life, and art was his liberation.
I know many troubled souls walking the earth, using art as a means of escape, occupancy and reform. No one should have to travel that far beyond the horizon or the scope of reality to connect to his/her creativity.
There is an artist in all of us. When we use the art of communication to reconcile our indifference, the true artist will emerge, leaving all to marvel at our courageous ability to overcome and thrive. – paerki
