October's End
This is definitely an October worth remembering.
The NCR Trail and Big Gunpowder Falls River never disappoint.
Fall Hike: One wrong turn and I ended up in York, Pennsylvania. I walked from Parkton to York and back (eight hours of walking). What a day! This might read like a complaint, but it's far from it. I planned on hiking, but not to York. I found myself rescuing many Woolly Bear Caterpillars along the way. It was a good day.
Spotted Lanternfly: When hiking, I often see signs encouraging people to kill the Spotted Lanternfly, an invasive insect that is destroying crops. States have a no mercy policy. If you see it, destroy it immediately.
I recently saw a few of them in Maryland on the NCR trail and in York, Pennsylvania. They are beautiful creatures, especially when they spread their wings. Don’t be seduced by their beauty.
