Sidewalks, Shortcuts & Second Chances
Sidewalks are for walking. If you want to jog or run, cycle or scooter, use the street (there is no excuse for not using bike lanes, especially if you’re a cyclist). Sadly, many are unwilling to use the street because of absentminded drivers who only know road rage. From changing lanes without signaling, to speeding, to rude gestures, drivers often refuse to share the road.
Mindfulness is everything. If you are walking down the street and there is someone in front of you that you are trying to pass, kindly say, "On your left." The person in front of you should move to the right. One of the golden rules I learned as a child... Keep right when walking, especially down hallways and on sidewalks.
We are a society of shortcuts and there is a price to pay for the latter. Leaving everything to chance, following the crowd, putting things off, cutting corners... Not good! Do your part to make the world a better place.
There are consequences for negative behavior. Sorry, but rarely am I a second chance guy. I love rules. I like enforcing them even more.
If someone is willing to give you a second chance (I do appreciate the willingness) – Don't take advantage... Show up...Prove yourself... Deliver. It all comes down to respect, honesty and appreciation. Self-respect is crucial for happiness. – paerki
