Investments
My masterclass continues. I am slowly learning that age is just a number. Yesterday, I got to spend time with one of my favorite people, someone I am happy to call a friend. She is 101 and counting. She really is impressive. Spending time with her was something I needed, especially after hearing sad news.
Friday morning, I learned another one of our other residents passed away. She was not just a resident, but a friend. She was one of the first people I bonded with, and it was meaningful. It really was a privilege to know her. Hanging out with her on trips was fun. We were never, ever at a loss for words. There was always lots of laughter, too. One of my fondest memories is when this wonderful human invited me to her apartment. Seeing her life in photos (family, friends, etc.) told me all I needed to know about her. She was loved. She will be missed.
It is strange, I just saw her a week ago. A lot can happen between chance meetings and did, but life goes on. Time will pass, things will change, but the memories will remain. What a privilege it was to know the fabulous LR.
Where I work, we make investments in people’s lives. It is not just a job – well, not for me. I took comfort in seeing other employees affected by this unexpected passing. It reinforces what I know to be true, that where I work is a privilege. I hope that continues.
Death is inevitable. The moment we are born we begin to die. It is imperative we live life to the fullest, and the way to do this is with a genuine heart, a strong mind, and a will to survive.
Death must inspire us to live – living a life guided by gratitude, selflessness, quality and, more importantly, hope.
If you get anything from this message, I hope it is this… Be present in the moment – Live life happy – Find your joy. – paerki
