Where Are You?
We used to stereotype women as going gaga for love, but much has changed. Men are now of the same mindset. Deep down inside we all look for love, hoping it will lead to a lifelong relationship.
What do I know about love? I know love doesn’t hurt. It can be unconditional if the person is not an absolute complete moron. It’s honest and pure when the person is not busy loving someone else. It can be amazing when monogamy is agreed upon.
Love is not a physical or an emotional attraction. Love comes from seeing another person’s goodness. Goodness is measured by morals, values and communication, and living life by example. Yes, the physical attraction might set off some fireworks, an engaging personality might help you seal the deal with your parents, intelligence might make you think of stability, and if you dare to engage in some form of sexual intercourse it might rock your world, but none of that is love because love is goodness of the heart.
Goodness is sharing and building a friendship. Everything that happens beyond a friendship is icing on the cake. If and when challenges develop, friendship is the place you come back to for rejuvenation. It’s looking at each other and appreciating the other’s ability to be comfortable in his/her own skin.
It’s enhanced with two individuals sharing each other’s interests, with the understanding that it’s okay not to share all interests, but finding it nice when someone cares enough to occasionally participate. Goodness is preserving your health, eating well and exercising, with the goal of not just being healthy for you, but for your significant other too, so that you can enjoy a long and happy and healthy life together. It’s not abusing your body with smoking and drugs, and if using alcohol honoring moderation without it leading to abuse. It’s giving of you and expecting nothing in return. However, when it is returned, you show your gratitude with joyous measure. It’s about caring, helping and nurturing each other’s dreams of work and life, and honoring those choices.
Honesty, loyalty and communication are without a doubt the most import contributions you can make to your relationship. One must never abandoned these elements for a moment. It’s these ingredients that will cement your love forever. Make the choice to always choose quality over quantity.
Never forget that deep, intimate love emanates from knowledge and giving, it comes not overnight, but over time. The intensity of your love will grow as your relationship grows. May the goodness of love find you happy forever. – paerki
