Artscape (One Week From Today)
Artscape is the largest free public festival in the country. It features more than 150 artists, fashion designers and craftspeople. There are many exhibitions, which include outdoor sculpture, art cars, photography, dance, opera, theater, fashion, film, experimental music, performances by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and family events (hands-on-projects, demonstrations, competitions and children’s entertainers). Featured are live concerts on four outdoor stages. In addition, there are multiple street theater locations and an international menu of food (American, Indian, Greek and Italian).
The best part of Artscape for me is watching the people. The crowd is always so diverse. Each personality type is riddled with little nuisances that make me curious about their lives. I guess there is a little voyeurism in all of us.
I hope all make it to this fun fabulous festival. It’s one week from today (July 18-20, 2014). Hot weather… crowds… food trucks… music, and of course – ART! That’s Artscape!
Always wear comfortable shoes, bring your sunglasses and cover your body in sunscreen/sunblock. Stay hydrated and enjoy the adventure. Cheers! – paerki
