Artscape (2014)
What a lovely weekend! Once more, Artscape delivered. As always, there was a little something for everyone. Each person experiences Artscape in his/her own way. For me, this time around it was about the human experience – observing the crowd.
The face of Artscape is changing, becoming more diverse. There were noticeably more Muslims and Asians in attendance, and that made me plenty happy. No mater who you are, I want you to feel comfortable coming to Artscape. I want each person to feel like I do – connected, finding joy. Each of us should walk away inspired and curious, ready to find the artist within. Artscape is just one of the many artist venues that has helped me tap into my own creativity, and I am forever thankful.
Now more than ever it’s important for each of us to see our face in Artscape, and that is why I am always excited to see a diverse group of artists represented. In many ways, events like Artscape do their part to heal the world, bringing about change through the arts, which strengthens our society even more, helping it to thrive.
Rarely am I disappointed by Baltimore’s art scene. These days we are doing such an extraordinary job. Artscape is a major feat to pull off year after year, and I am super proud of the Baltimore Office of Promotions & The Arts and the many volunteers who make this happen. Here’s to you, and a job well done. Be proud!
Here’s to a new week, my friends – remembering Monday is a new beginning, and anything is possible. Dare to be creative. Never underestimate your ability to thrive. Cheers! – paerki
