Autumn
Today, I took my meditation outdoors, adding a devotion to nature. It enhanced the experience, creating a cocoon-like feeling of warmth and protection. In many ways it’s my religion, allowing me to be thankful for all that I am. It affords me the opportunity to appreciate others, grateful for the beauty and joy each has brought to my world.
As I watched the leaves fall, witnessing the changes in color, I thought about beginnings and endings. Many see spring as a true beginning because life reemerges from the blissful sleep of winter. Fall can be seen as an end because so much of nature retreats, hibernating, and waiting for a season of warmth.
However, I see fall as a true beginning because there is much changing before our eyes. Like the leaves on the trees of fall, if we are to see any message that nature might be sending us it’s that we need to look within ourselves for change, thus reemerging stronger, steadfast and true. This is the season to create a new outlook on life, a time to find new hope and understanding.
So many look for others for change when we need to find it for ourselves, through strength and conviction. We need to search deep and think about change as it relates to our fellow man. We need to explore new ways of connecting, attempting to understand those things that don’t always make sense to us. We need to build bridges and mend fences. Let’s ask ourselves, what is it that we can change to make the bond of brother/sisterhood more resilient?
Embrace a change of heart, allowing the bright colors of fall to be your guide. Allow the falling leaves from trees to put you into a hypnotic trance of deep thought, followed by a set of priorities that’s inclusive of all.
My summer was awesome, and I shared it with only a handful of special people, friends whose joy is constant in my life and there for me always, which makes my journey sweeter, richer and more rewarding.
To those select few, and you know who you are… Thank you! I wish we could do it all again, but that’s not possible. However, there’s always fall, and I can’t wait to continue the journey, especially with you.
Fall begins. Find your joy in this new season. Cheers! – paerki
