What An Inspiration! (Diana Nyad)
Time is so very precious. These days our time would be better spent living our own lives instead of telling others how to live, but I digress. If you get anything from my ramblings allow it to be this… You are beautiful. Be present in the moment. Live life happy. Find your joy. Inspire yourself. Thinking is great, but action makes things happen. Believe it!
The following is my response to ‘Don’t Tell An Atheist She’s Not An Atheist’, an online article posted on Salon. Read the article, and watch the video. What do you think? – paerki
Diana Nyad – what an intelligent, beautiful woman – inside and out. It’s not our responsibility to define another person’s beliefs. I believe everyone has faith, and/or something they believe to be true. I will never understand why an individual must create a God to justify their ignorance.
As for religion, the constitution guarantees us the right to choose. If we could just remember that, things would be a whole lot better in this nation. We must stop with our demands, requiring others to submit. Politicians must stop manipulating religion (you can’t hold America hostage – to ransom any longer), and the average citizen must stop living in fear (I implore you to believe in yourself).
So many of you are out of touch with reality that it’s shameful, thus your inability to connect with humanity in a much deeper, broader way. It’s about good deeds, kindness towards others and mutual respect. That’s it! It’s that simple. This will bring all happiness, and to the world – peace, and plenty of joy too.
If I were seeking God – your God, I would learn from my mistakes, never repeating the same one twice. I wouldn’t judge anyone (although that would make life boring), leaving it up to the almighty. More importantly, I would simply be honest, through-and-through, believing in myself every step of the way.
However, I’m not mapping out a plan to be God-worthy, but worthy of those I live with – mankind collectively, doing my part to raise America’s social consciousness, while keeping this beautiful planet thriving environmentally for future generations, because if I do that… If my heart is in the right place, I’ll be okay and you will too.
Lastly, I believe Oprah to be a good person, a role model. I don't feel the need to attack her. What I got from her statements is that she is still learning and growing. If you feel the need to humiliate her, something is definitely wrong with you. We are too reactionary, and that's part of our problem too.
We all have a point of view to express, and let’s share it with the understanding of agreeing to disagree. I might not consent to your politics or religion, but I hope that will never stop us from being friends, coworkers or neighbors. Never allow one single topic to define your human spirit, but be open to all possibilities. Let’s grow together.
We need lessons on ethics, compassion, humanity and peace – desperately! Here’s to your weekend, my friends! Keep it real, smile and share your joy. Cheers!

“All dogmas & beliefs are man-made constructs, thus, how can we prove or disprove states of consciousness that are not human? We define parameters for what we think of as a higher power, but it is inevitably from within the confines of a human brain. The universe is neither human, nor is the constant energy that flows through it. Entropy does not care if I eat pork. We humans are made up of the same exact cosmic dust/star carbon that makes up all of the stars, planets, etc. The idea that we are all one is not all that far-fetched. In that regard, all religions are equally right, and equally wrong. Until we can experience a state of not being human, we cannot be specific about the parameters of what we call God.”
