I share these thoughts with you because I want you to know the little things in life matter more than anything else. A kind word, a friendly hello, a simple smile, etc., we need to be doing this more.
My advice: Slow down… smile more…. live in the present, and stop comparing yourself to others. The journey is more important than the destination. On rare occasions I forget this, but not anymore.
And if you’re curious about my future, dear reader, I think I may have already found my new home. It may not have a fireplace or garden, but the view and the coziness of the space will leave me quite satisfied.
As for my memories of this unforgettable time of my life, they will live on in my heart. – paerki
I had written the following 10 years ago, and it’s worth sharing here…
My home is very important to me. My life between these four walls of privacy I value like no other. It’s immeasurable, and absolutely priceless. It’s an oasis with a cocoon-like feeling, shielding me from the outside manipulative forces of violence and pollution. It allows for creativity, free thinking and renewal. How I decorate and express myself through my comforting castle allows it to heal my spirit when it becomes damaged by the negative energy of others and/or when I am stressed from a long day.
My place of nesting is my calling card, and it tells people I am warm, friendly, imaginative, organized, colorful, expressive and loving. When you walk through the door you come to understand the true meaning of mi casa es su casa.
The greatest gifts I can offer you are articulate conversation, soothing spirits and laughter. The idea of entertaining intensifies the experience and speaks to my home’s heart, which is its true life force.
What I have is simple by far; however, it is worth its weight in gold because I am surrounded by memories of a life lived and still in progress. I am forever reminded of family, friends and special places traveled. Photographs, books, art and music are my guides, and keep me focused. What keeps you focused?
I am hopeful that more people will revere their home as a place where the true happiness of life begins. We must always see it as our quality source for genuine inspiration, giving us energy and purpose to move forward. I want to see individuals spending less time measuring the riches of their life with bling, fancy cars, the latest gadgets and designer wares, and more so by the love and realness they bring to the place that is their ultimate source for reflection, refinement and respect.
I feel very fortunate when I can find what’s in my home in other homes. In other words, today I took a walk to the grocery store, and on my way back I walked by one of my favorite homes in my community. Without ever walking inside I could feel the pulse of this beautiful structure because of the attention to detail, care and love on the outside. The gardens alone say passion, energy, commitment and honor. These are traits we must all seek if we really want to be our best, without a doubt they will aid you in giving your best.
Never forget that a home’s beauty is not measured by size or location, but by the attention you give, the care you take, and more so by the those who live inside because that is what gives it true meaning, making it special for you and a gift for others. – paerki
