Roadside Stand
I become a bit nostalgic when driving down the road in late September and see in the distance a farmer’s market, garden market, roadside stand, farm stand or whatever you want to call it, on the wayside peddling pumpkins, produce and other farm goodies. It’s a reminder of what’s to come – fall and all that it brings – cooler temperatures, changing of the leaves, carving pumpkins, bonfires, Halloween, etc. (of course, this year will be different with the pandemic).
Yesterday, I visited a roadside stand. Everyone was practicing social distancing (the best they could), wearing masks and, for some, gloves. At first it seemed a bit odd, maybe just a tad sterile, but having a friend by my side brought it all back into perspective. We did what we do so well, and for many years now, which is live in the moment, appreciating everything fall-like (it will be here before you know it: 2 days / 21 hours / 32 minutes / 20 seconds, but who is counting?!). We love all the elements of fall and can’t let a pandemic get in the way of our adventures.
Dear friends… Don’t allow COVID-19 to bring you down. Please don’t give into fear. If you do the right thing, fall will be as rewarding as you want it to be. Remember to practice social distancing and wear masks, understanding this is a kindness to others.
It’s important to be considerate. Sure, we may be quick to criticize others, but before you do, first make the effort to understand the circumstances. In other words, DON’T BE A KAREN! – paerki
