Harrisburg Cemetery
Occasionally I spend my free time with dead people. Yesterday afternoon I visited the Harrisburg Cemetery, formerly known as Mount Kalmia Cemetery. It's a prominent cemetery located in the national historic district in Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania. For me, this is more than a place to visit, but a destination. I enjoy wandering about, looking for unusual and dramatic headstones, reading inscriptions, while investigating dates. You'll read some eloquent, witty, clever and poetic epitaphs, too.
There are many who see the visiting of a cemetery as a morbid pastime. To me it’s a museum chock-full of history. It allows for reflection, and the contemplation of time. Life is short, and we should all be making the most of it. – paerki
