Facebook Repartee
For those who read my words and might be offended, please know that my views of the world and of current events are open to change. I write to create dialogue among the masses, especially with my friends. Good and bad, every opinion matters, and we must all be heard to gain clarity and understanding of our past, present and future.
We might not always see eye to eye, but let’s consent to respect each other’s thoughts, appreciating the feedback, savoring the wisdom, and above all else, we must agree to disagree – if need be. That way we can remain friends, or perhaps frenemies.
What’s on your mind? Cheers! – paerki
Think Before You Speak/Write
When you have to resort to name calling, your self-worth diminishes. You become part of the problem. For or against, you're entitled to your opinion. I value our First Amendment, now more than ever.
I am not always happy with Obama's choices, but I do stand by my President. To say he is the worst President we’ve ever had makes it clear – you know nothing about American history. Stop reacting to sound bites and innuendo. The school system and your parents have failed you. Peace begins at home with effective communication skills.
For those nasty ranters: Some of you have open Facebook pages. I was curious to look at the page of someone calling our President 'stupid', 'nasty fucker' and 'clueless'. I have one question… How do you hold a job? Many of you lack critical thinking skills. You’re reactionary and caustic, and your writing is dreadful. I can only imagine how you speak – no doubt poorly. What does that say about you, and you want to call our President an idiot?!
This is not a judgment, although it reads like one. I simply want you to use a little mindfulness before you speak/write. We’ll all benefit in the long run.
Your Facebook-rage is telling of your inability to cope, and definitely thrive in a society that is in desperate need of logical thinkers. You must learn to control your agitation, belligerence. Your manic outbursts will weaken you, weakening our national resolve even more.
If you are so unhappy with the United States, 'get the hell out of dodge'.
I think the problem with the world today is not that we aren’t expressing ourselves enough, but that we are communicating the wrong way, making poor social networking choices. In other words, reactionary, caustic people shouldn’t be using Twitter or Facebook because they lack the ability to 'mentally' edit. Those who think things through have a better chance of using social networking tools with more responsibility. The latter is not a judgment, but a guideline to living your best life. May we all learn to do just that, agreeing to disagree on things we don’t understand. (Reference: Obama On Quelling Iraq Violence: "We Can't Do It For Them")
Marianne Williamson
I more often than not, appreciate Marianne’s words. Take the first article to heart. As for the second one, regarding her run for the House of Representatives, I am not surprised by the outcome. Sadly, too many people vote their emotions and not the issues.
The following quotes have stayed with me, as stated by Marianne – "I know my campaign was outside the box, but inside the box is profoundly toxic today." "Spirituality is not a religion; it is a conviction of the heart." (Reference: The Gnarly Psychology Of Unnecessary War and Are You Serious?)
How Will You Change The World?
A difficult read, both powerful and disturbing. In this case, a photograph really is worth a thousand words – perhaps more. Don't focus on the negative for too long. Contemplate how you will change the world, making it better for all and not a select few. It begins with you. (Reference: The World Is A Terrible Place, New Study Finds)
