Up On My Soapbox… Yet Again!
I share with you a few ramblings from the past week, as I had written on my Facebook wall. There is no excuse for not being part of the dialogue. Be responsible with your thoughts. I make no apologizes for what I write. There are times when my opinions change, which I think is great. I enjoy seeing the evolution of my thoughts within my writing. I am always willing to concede at any given moment. As always, let’s agree to disagree. – paerki
Michael Sam
Gays should not be playing football. They could get hurt (my dose of sarcasm for the day). What an awesome guy! Michael Sam, you make us proud. Let’s just concentrate on the man for living his dream, and for being an inspiration to all. I still can’t understand why heterosexuals are so consumed by gays. It’s an unhealthy obsession, and that’s putting it mildly. One gay football player vs.the many heterosexual football players who have committed felonies (vandalism, rape, petty larceny, child abuse, DUI, felony possession of a deadly weapon, and public intoxication), and you’re concerned about the gay man because? WTF?! Today’s Christians, not so Christian (not all, but a sizable portion). All I see is a bunch of self-righteous wannabes who know nothing about God’s love. My intentions are not to offend anyone, but you can take your judgments and shove them up your ass. The world would be a much better place if you would get off your high horse. You're insane if you think people choose to be gay. (Reference: Christian's Boycott Michael Sam, Get Schooled By Kid)
Gluten-Free
The comments are more fascinating than the article. I am a true celiac. With gluten out of my life, I am healthy and my body is happy. I do agree with one of his statements: "The healthiest diet is one free of processed foods." Some of us just need to omit the gluten, too. I don't believe everything I read/hear. It's all about listening to your body. When things don't seem right, keep a journal. That's how I first figured out my dilemma with gluten. Choose balance and moderation, and exercise too.
There are too many fad diets, body cleanses, etc. People continue to peddle their wares, but homeopathic is the way to go. I am never without turmeric, ginger, lemon and apple cider vinegar. Keep the regimen simple. (Reference: Michael Pollan Weighs In On The Gluten-Free Craze)
Choice
Hard work, imagination or faith?! Why would anyone have to make that choice? I live and preach balance and moderation – in all things. However, critical thinking skills are vital, especially in today’s world. As for faith, I’m not talking religion. Let’s be clear, faith is not the same as religion. In many cases the latter comes with a hefty dose of brainwashing. One must think outside the box and stop being lazy and relying on the same old safe narrative and try to understand some other perspectives, however challenging. It takes a lot of faith to believe in the future of the human race, and religion can often be the bigger part of the problem. There must be less judging and more sharing, caring and inclusiveness. Diversity is a beautiful thing. (Reference: Which Country Shares Your Parenting Values)
