Monday Musings
Reflection
Another weekend has come and gone, vanishing ever so quickly. I’m hopeful you made the most of yours, perhaps snapping a few photos on your cell phone to peruse later in the week, motivating you through until you can do it all again. In a world where challenge is commonplace, testing our resolve every step of the way, we must demand more from ourselves. We must work hard and play even harder, but not so much that we can’t keep the cycle of balance in motion. What helps fortify this endeavor for me is moderation. It’s my weapon of choice, guiding my happiness every step of the way.
It’s valuable to reflect on the past to further one’s journey along, finding motivation in the present to perform good deeds, and it’s even more important to stroke the necessity of our future, and that can be easily accomplished with a friend or two.
Yesterday, while I was running, I noticed a family walking to church. For one brief moment I was deeply contemplative and realized salvation could be discovered outside of a religious institution (remembering it’s the love in your heart that matters most), that my morals and values were right where they needed to be, and all that is good and truly matters most could be easily found in a memory, a good deed, and with the love of friends. I count my blessings every day for the latter, and did even more on this particular day. (To Sharon and Barbara, thank you for a lovely evening. You bring me joy.) – paerki
Dear Gardener…
To one special gardener in my community, thank you for so much beauty. Your inspiration, creativity and joy bring happiness to all, affording the perennial smile. You keep the season of spring alive in our hearts, day after day, reminding us how important it is to stop to smell the flowers.
I consider myself lucky to live in an area where nature thrives and people showcase their love of all things bright, colorful and cheerful. If ever a bad day occurs, a brief walk down a few streets heals my spirit. I am guaranteed to feel refreshed and inspired. Ahh… The power of nature, and it’s there each day I walk out my front door.
Step outside, take a walk and find a smile. It’s constant in nature’s splendor.
I can’t say it enough, make time to enjoy the simple things in life, and the best way to do this is by getting rid of the clutter in your life, focusing on what you are doing and by taking yourself out of your comfort zone. Always be present in the moment. Here’s to a new week. Shine like the sun – bright and beautiful. – paerki
