Elk Neck State Park
I love parks (state, national and local), and Maryland is fortunate to have many. I can now add another to my list of those visited. Elk Neck State Park is wondrous. The landscapes are breathtaking, both land and water. The park consists of 2,188 acres of sandy beaches, marshlands, and heavily wooded bluffs overlooking the North East River, Elk River and Chesapeake Bay.
I enjoyed a leisurely afternoon hike on the Lighthouse Trail, appreciating the vastness of it all. I found the white clay cliffs a bit scary, and the Chesapeake Bay, as always, was breathtaking. It brings a smile to my face. Water in general is calming to my spirit.
