January 3, 2025: Regardless of age, caregiving is full of challenges. It can be difficult, exhausting, frustrating, overwhelming, stressful, and isolating. It can decrease one’s quality of life. Support groups are necessary.
It can also be rewarding. Depending on the person, family participation and company, I’ve witnessed meaningful bonding.
Not all caregivers are wonderful. If it’s just another job to you, you’re in the wrong business. Open another door before one is closed on you. – paerki
January 2, 2025: My Thursday morning walk. He said, "This is home." As I retraced my steps, I saw him "shooting up" with a dirty needle. Despair is real. – paerki
