Walking Alone
Weekends come and go so quickly, especially during the fall months. Of course this is just my opinion. I base this theory on temperature alone. I’m always trying to squeeze in as much outdoor activity as possible before the cold weather settles in because I know it will be even more difficult to entice my friends to come out and play in a few months.
I enjoy being at one with nature - it’s my mental medicine, my religion and how I exercise. On occasion this becomes a challenge for some because I’d rather walk than sit, and when it’s time to eat, I’d rather grab a bite and eat on the go (not always, but most of the time).Regardless of the challenges and my passion for people, places and things (snapping photos along the way for memories), it appears to concern some. Yesterday I observed a behavior that is not all that uncommon. When people are making fun they are saying something they wouldn’t otherwise communicate (a subconscious message). Unlike me, I dial direct, or at least try to as often as possible because it makes the relationship that much stronger.
My walks with friends are the best. I wouldn’t trade them for the world, and I look forward to many more. However, a walk alone is mandatory too.For those who don’t want to walk unless they have someone by their side – think of this: Walking alone just might boost your creativity. On a day when you are simply trying to fit in a walk for exercise, a walk alone is perfect because you can change your pace quickly. You can also avoid the trap of lateness.
A few of my friends are notorious for being late. If they have any interest in joining me they have to find me first. There are times when misery doesn’t like company and people can take it personally. I like to walk off a “tude.” I don’t walk around with one, but I’m human and have my moments. Lucky for me, I can walk it off in 15 minutes. This is something others need to learn. If I had any pet peeve it would be the inability to go the distance. There are no simple walks with me, and if we agree on a destination, you must stick to the plan.
I beg you not to take my words personally, friends, and for those who might go literal with my views – DON’T. Might I suggest you take it outdoors to walk off your attitude? - paerki
